  Yes, we know the Russian's made considerable efforts to influence the election. This has been backed up by every US intelligence agency and is not contested by any investigative body. More importantly, these conclusions have NOTHING to do with the Steel Dossier. If you would like, I can provide you with considerable public statements made by the FBI, CIA, DHS, State Department, NSA, and the National Cyber Security Division regarding Russian interference in our elections.

  If someone claims something is evidence but it turns out not to be, then that is false or faked isn't it?

  No. That's not true at all.

  It can mean the evidence is inconclusive. It can mean the evidence was insufficient for the claim being made. It can mean the evidence was unable to be corroborate by another source. It can mean those looking at the evidence were mistaken about their initial conclusions. Etc.

  I know you really like Trump. But this report could have come out over a year ago if Trump had simply agreed to sit down with Bob Mueller. Instead, he wanted to play hide the ball with the evidence. So Mueller had to interview hundreds of witnesses and subpoena thousands of documents to try and figure out what the President knew all the while wasting our tax payer dollars.

  There's a piece of advice lawyers often give to people under investigation, "There's nothing you can do to make the investigation go any quicker. But there's a lot you can do to make it take longer."

  Trump has only himself to blame for this presidential fiasco.

  Complete fabrication? If cops find blood all over the inside of your car but can't find a body - does that mean that any investigation of possible homicide is a "complete fabrication".

  We know the Russian's made an intense and sustained effort to try and influence our election. We know that the FBI got word that people like George Papadopoulos had insight into these actions before our intelligence services even knew what was going on. We know that Manifort gave campaign polling data to a conduit for the GRU that would have been very helpful to Russian's social media campaign. And we know that Trump tried to shut down the investigation several times.

  There is blood everywhere. It would have been negligence of the highest order if the FBI did not investigate. And, most importantly, not a single component of this investigation has been "fabricated".

  This is such an embarrassment for Trump and the conservitive media. This whole time they've been trumpeting that this is "witch hunt". The new AG Bill Barr has stated clearly everything Mueller did was completely appropriate.

  If Mueller's report is favorable to Trump than conservatives will do a 180 and start talking about what a fine guy he is. The Republican's have become a party that stands for nothing other than willful hypocrisy.

  After months and months of Republicans saying it was a "witch hunt" and that is was totally inappropriate and Mueller was off the rails and that is was a liberal conspiracy, etc - the Special Council's work has now been completely vindicated:

  "The Special Counsel regulations require that I provide you with “a description and explanation of instances (if any) in which the Attorney General” or acting Attorney General “concluded that a proposed action by a Special Counsel was so inappropriate or unwarranted under established Departmental practices that it should not be pursued.” 28 C.F.R. §600.9(a)(3). There were no such instances during the Special Counsel's investigation."

  Is New Zealand right to ban military style guns?

  in response to the recent terrorist attack in new zealand their government is proposing to ban semi automatic and military style weaponry.. do you agree with this idea?.

  would they be  better off allowing more of these weapons instead?.

  would it be better to perhaps allow more of the muslim community for example, to be armed with semi automatic guns to protect themselves at their places of worship?.

  I said we should make it more difficult to get these types of guns Not that we should take them away. There's a huge difference between the two.

  cops, the military, and all terrorists, drug dealers, gang bangers, smugglers, thugs, and just general bad dudes will continue to have them, sell them, buy them, and use them, right?

  Are you aware that the 10 states with the weakest gun laws have an aggregate level of gun violence that is more than three times higher

  than the 10 states with the strongest gun laws? And people who live in a home with a gun are twice as likely to be a victim of gun violence?

  Almost all school shootings aren't carried out by terrorists or drug dealers. Rather, they're carried out by students who attend that school. And the vast majority of gun violence isn't perpetrated by random gang bangers shooting people up. The vast majority of people who are victims of gun violence are injured or killed by someone they know.
  

  And in the event that bad guys cant get their hands on them, they'll resort to using other means, like pipe bombs, fertilizer bombs, vehicles, airplanes, poison gas, I mean the list goes on and on.

  This is a Nirvana Fallacy. It's like saying there's no point to wearing a seat belt because it wont stop you from getting killed if you hit a deer. Such an argument reasons that if a solution isn't perfect it isn't worthwhile. This, of course, is entirely vacuous. The value of wearing a seat belt is decreases the likelihood of deaths in the majority of accidents and generally reduces the level of injuries.

  The same is true when it comes to making assault rifles more difficult to get. It wont stop all gun violence. But it will help limit the number of mass shootings we see. And it will make it more difficult for police departments to justify running around in military gear and vehicles.

  Please show me where police carry grenades. Flash bangs and smoke, maybe.

  Hahaha, I don't think I've ever had to explain this to anyone before - but flash bangs and smoke grenades are grenades.
  
  

  Do you understand that an "assault" rifle, more correctly termed a semi automatic, only fires as fast as you pull the trigger? Not to mention that you've got to aim.

  As I've actually shot M-1s and AR-15s I know first hand that you can "pull the trigger" very quickly. And that aiming them is a breeze compared to hand guns.

  The rate of fire combined with the accuracy and penetrating powers of these weapons put them in a class of their own. There's a reason the majority of mass shooters use them. In a single day of practice a novice can become 20 times more lethal with an assault weapon than a cop with a hand gun and 20 years of service. There's just no comparison.
  

  You're focus is on the wrong part of the problem. Getting rid of guns, any gun, isn't going to stop a bad guy from killing people.

  Yes it will. It will stop students from massacring their fellow students by the dozen. It will stop a lone wolf from walking into a gay night club and murdering 50 people wholesale. It'll stem the tide of mass shootings followed by mass funerals that leave entire communities ripped apart.

  Coded Logic

  We need to make it more difficult for people to get these high rate of fire / high penetration weapons (aka "assault rifles"). Police forces all across the US have used the easy acces to these weapons as a pretense for an arms race. The police have used it as an excuse to carry their own assault weapons in every single patrol car. To carry out search warrants in full tactical gear with body armor. They've used it as an excuse to carry grenades and drive around in APCs.

  Assault weapons are undermining our rights and are making the police more and more militaristic everyday. We need to get these weapons off the streets so the police no longer have an excuse to run around looking - and acting - like full blown militias all the time.

  I have to agree with Wasanelder. Let's say for a moment Mueller produces a tape of Trump saying to Putin, "Please hack Hillary's e-mails and have the Russian GRU throw the election" - I don't think even something that damning would matter. Because Republican's in the Senate would just hand wave it away.

  They'd be on TV saying things like, "Well, everyone gets help from non-US actors in some way" and "Remember that one time Obama wore a tan suite at a White House briefing - that's the real crime we should be looking into" etc. Republican's wont even stand up for McCain when Trumps attacking him in the grave - do we really think they're going to stand up for the rule of law?

  So long as Trump has his sycophants in Washington providing him cover nothing's going to stick to him. Maybe if he loses in 2020 he might be charged. But, the way things are going, I think he has a greater than 50% of being re-elected.

  Not JW related, but should the electoral college be abolished?

  elizabeth warren, alexandria ocasio cortez, and other democrats are openly expressing interest (and in come cases, campaign promises) that the electoral college has to go.

  i disagree for a few reasons.

  first, the 25 states (out of 50, so 50%) with the smallest populations only get 21% of the electoral college votes (in our current system, today).

  I think our Republic is best served when the population receives fair representation from it's elected officials. The Electoral College does not practice fair representation. It is an atavism from a bygone age and gives disproportionate value to individual voters. For example, voters in Alaska get far more representation in a presidential election than voters in California do.

  This is not how we conduct local races, state races, or elections for other federal offices. And it's an exception we shouldn't be making for our Presidential elections.
